#1 Spring Breakers

#1
Well,
I had my brother, Mark, come and visit me for his spring break week off. We went to Galveston for their Mardi Gras party; saw lots of bands, collected lots of beads, had a couple of drinks, and that's all you'll hear about that.
During the week we went and saw the Houston Rockets play Steve Nash and the Suns. We Had tickets in the nosebleed seats, but by giving a nice usher lady a big hug we got down to about the 20th row where we watched the suns beat up on the rockets. (This all while the pistons continue to have the best record in the NBA). Mark and I also went to a hip-hop dance class and a subdudes concert.
Mark's visit followed by my friend Carrie from MSU coming for her spring break with some roomates. We spent the first night of the weekend (friday obviously) at the Alabama Ice House which is the oldest bar in houston. We hung out at the picnic table and enjoyed a guy doing Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Elvis covers. Saturday we left to the beach in galveston and spent the day at our hotel pool soaking up the sun, swimming in the ocean and pool with a beverage to quench our thirst. After an outing on saturday night we headed back to houston sunday. The rest of the week was spent enjoying some sun, a little shopping, some sightseeing, and a dance outing to Wild West; a country/hip hot dance bar.
The next visitors were pete and seth taking a break from law school and thunder dan just taking a break from the harsh reality of life. Friday night we all met at a party at a friend, kevin's house, to hear stories of everyone's recent happenings. Saturday we went to a sports bar to watch some of the big ten tourney before heading out to dinner, bowling, and Sam's boat; a bar where there was a real shitty eighties cock rock band.
Sunday morning we headed off to brunch where we enjoyed a lovely meal and some memosas. After leaving there we headed to a friends apt complex to lie by the pool with more memosas in hand.
Monday, Andy, Dan, Seth, Pete and myself took in the world famous houston rodeo. This was quite an event. It was very entertaining watching the bucking horses and bulls, the cowboys/girls rope cattle and race around tracks and the scramble, which is where maybe 50 or some teenage kids try to run down and tackle 20 or so smaller cattle (smaller being only a few hundred pounds). The cattle got the best of this, but nonetheless great fun to watch.
After heading out to buy deep fried twinkies and deep fried snickers we discussed how much fun it would be to have one of us dress up as a cow and for the others to try to catch, tackle and rope that lucky individual who was the cow. (We ended up only talking about it).
Wednesday night I got on a flight to meet up with Pete and his parents in Sanibel, Florida.
A Summary of Sanibel is that we lied by the pool with dips every once in a while, lied on the hammock, had a couple of golf outings, a day of tennis, some biking, a St Patty's day bar crawl (pete and I were the only ones under 55 years old), and lots of eating and watching the NCAA tourney.
This was the end of my spring break month.
